PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER II – CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / SANTA BARBARA SECTOR / EL CAPITAN STATE BEACH
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is El Capitan State Beach at 2 El Capitan State Beach Road, Goleta, CA. This position will work under the general direction of Park Maintenance Chief I.
Duties for this position include the skilled maintenance and repair of park facilities including roads, showers, sewer, irrigation and electrical systems, day to day leadership of seasonal employees, housekeeping, and purchasing. Will track and complete daily work orders and may be
required to enter the data into the statewide facility maintenance tracking system – Maximo.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR .
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

W ork Environment includes; outdoor environment, characterized cold and heat, frequent winds, blowing sand and dust, and insects. Work in hazardous conditions (i.e. raw sewage, chemicals, garbage and offal, hypodermic needles, rodents, broken glass, driving on loose sand and off road, operate off road vehicles and equipment, etc.). Work environment may expose incumbent to noise, dust, fumes, extreme wind, hot and cold temperatures, and unpleasant odors. Work at elevated heights, on or near machinery and heavy equipment or traffic.
Physical Ability includes; perform strenuous manual labor (i.e. digging trenching, boring, lifting, carrying, loading etc.). Requires repetitive movements of heavy objects. Ability to walk across uneven terrain, loose sand in both uphill and downhill conditions to perform the duties of the job. Stand for long periods of time, (more than 2 hours) to perform the duties associated with the job.
