Description

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for leading the strategic sales and marketing initiatives of the hotel to maximize revenue (Rooms & F&B), drive occupancy and strengthen brand positioning. This role oversees the sales and catering team, collaborates closely with operations and revenue management and ensures alignment of all marketing activities with the overall business strategy.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual sales and marketing plan to meet or exceed revenue goals across all market segments and in food and beverage.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the sales and marketing team to achieve individual and team performance targets.
  • Drive direct sales efforts through personal account management, client prospecting and relationship-building activities.
  • Play an active role with local CVB.
  • Oversee marketing strategies, including digital marketing, social media, branding, public relations and advertising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the revenue management team to optimize pricing, distribution and inventory strategies.
  • Prepare and execute the annual sales and marketing budget, ensuring alignment with overall financial objectives.
  • Utilize creative strategies to retain business, uncover new revenue sources and resolve problems.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows and networking opportunities to enhance market visibility.
  • Conduct regular market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed reports and forecasts for ownership and executive leadership, providing insight into business performance.
  • Confidently present performance updates, forecasts and trends to ownership and management teams.

  • Five plus years of upscale hospitality sales management experience.
  • Proven successful selling and negotiation skills, including prospecting, are required.
  • The ideal candidate must also possess excellent organization, task management and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Motivation and ability to identify new business opportunities and maintain a high regard for customer loyalty.
  • A successful candidate will be comfortable in a high-energy, service-oriented environment and be able to manage multiple functions and priorities.
  • The ability to motivate and manage groups of individuals.
  • Emotional Intelligence; the ability to get the very best out of all reporting managers and associates.
  • Knowledge of Delphi FDC, Salesforce, Opera and Passkey are a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including:
  • Excel – Strong working knowledge of formulas, conditional formatting, charts and basic dashboard/report building for data analysis and decision support.
  • Word – Skilled in formatting professional documents using styles, tables, templates, mail merge and collaborative editing tools.
  • Outlook – Effective use of email management, calendaring, task organization and inbox rules to streamline communication and time management.
  • PowerPoint – Ability to design and format professional, visually engaging presentations using slide master, charts and embedded media.
  • Teams – Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for virtual collaboration, including chat, meetings, file sharing and integration with other Office applications.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or one-to-two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
